After receiving my Masters in Behavioral Science, specializing in psychology, I worked in a psychiatric hospital, criminal substance abuse residential program, and a teen counseling center. After serving 23 years in the military/Federal service this was a welcome change in direction to directly helping others. While living in Oklahoma and now making my home in Texas I have honed my assessment, treatment planning, and goal-setting skills with diverse populations and communities. I’ve learned throughout my career that it is important to listen to understand, help clarify goals, and to assist in helping people find their own solutions in a collaborative and accepting environment.
I am dedicated to working with all individuals in a process that encourages a shift in how a client thinks, feels, and behaves. I work with individuals with a myriad of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance use, and general life skill issues. I specialize in groups that are historically pathologized; individuals with gender identity, sexual identity, and expression concerns (LGBTQIA), and relationship structure concerns (consensual non-monogamous) relationships. This inquiring form of conversation expands the ability of the client to make significant changes, move forward in new areas, and feel better.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the state of Texas. I am also a nationally certified (International Coaching Federation) Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and Sexologist.
